WELCOME
To Providence RI
Providence is the capital city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It’s home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, whose RISD Museum displays American art and silver. Nearby, 18th- and 19th-century homes line the streets of College Hill. Waterplace Park is the backdrop for the WaterFire art installation, which lights up the surrounding tidal basin most nights in the summer and for special events.
THINGS TO IN DO PROVIDENCE RI
The Best
If you live in Mystic CT or anywhere else in eastern CT as well as Boston, Providence is within your reach. Providence is one of the US’ oldest cities, founded in 1636 by Roger Williams. The city’s name refers to God’s Providence. Roger Williams was thankful to God for giving him a place to support his ideals of religious freedom for all. It is now a haven of great food, art, and historical buildings. The Providence River running through its center makes it feel a bit like a European city, and when it is lit up with the fires it is magical.
