Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Providence, RI

Being a vegetarian or vegan in Providence doesn’t mean getting stuck in the salad section of a restaurant’s menu anymore – in fact, there are almost too many veggie-friendly options to choose from these days, and Plant City probably deserves its own article given its size and scope. We’ve tried to make a list here that includes a variety of cuisines and dining experiences, all locally owned and operated.

The Grange exists with the intention of providing Providence with a restaurant experience primarily on a plant-based menu, featuring locally sourced, organically grown, and seasonally inspired ingredients. Some of our favorite menu items include the seitan wings, General Tso’s Tacos, and Maple Mustard Tempeh.

AS220 Food and Drink is part of AS220, a non-profit community arts space in Providence. They work with 44 local farmers and vendors to bring you affordable, seasonal, and delicious meals. The menu is constantly changing, but always includes a great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, including “boneless” cauliflower wings, vegan mac and cheese, and a vegan Reuben sandwich.

India offers an exciting blend of traditional favorites, creative dishes, and many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options for each. They pride themselves on progressive cuisine that is fresh, nutritious, flavorful, and balanced. Their menu includes an entire vegetarian-friendly appetizer sampler, vindaloo, and Baingan Bharta (fire-roasted eggplant).

Tori Tomo was opened with one goal in mind: giving guests a unique, delicious, and unforgettable experience with their traditional Japanese dishes. Every single item, be it ramen, donburi (rice bowls), and zensai (small plate), is carefully prepared to dazzle your senses and lots of vegetarian and/or vegan options are available. We recommend garlic chili edamame, the Tom Yum style of ramen, or their tofu katsu sandwich served with organic mushroom tempura.

Den Den Cafe Asiana offers hearty Korean dishes such as hot-stone bibimbap, japchae (stir-fried sweet potato noodles), and kimbap (Korean sushi), as well as a variety of Japanese-inspired dishes. Most menu items have a vegetarian option available, clearly marked on the menu, so you can order with confidence. One of my favorite things in the whole world is their bibimbap, so of course, I’m going to recommend that first and foremost, but their vegetable gyoza and yaki udon bento are also outstanding choices.

Bayberry Beer Hall is a modern American beer hall, dreamed up by the owner when he traveled abroad to Munich and experienced a traditional German Biergarten for the first time. They offer regionally crafted beer and a curated, contemporary menu that features a variety of vegetarian options, such as a Buffalo Cauliflower Wrap and Smoked Tofu Bahn Mi.
