Friskie Fries: Fully Loaded French Fries
French fries are typically the side dish to our favorite meals, but have you ever had a meal where fries are the main course? Well, Friskie Fries is the place to go to try fries in a whole new way.
Friskie Fries has locations in Barrington, Johnston, and Providence, RI. They also have a food truck! I visited the Friskie Fries in Providence and my first time at the restaurant was great.
The menu is huge and there are so many options to choose from. Also, the portions are really big and definitely filled me up.
Most of the fries are about $9.50 apiece. All of the fries are loaded with different toppings, depending on what you are in the mood for. I tried the Cluck’n Hot Mess, Miss Potato Head, and Fowl Play. The Clunk’n Hot mess was topped with crispy chicken, buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, and blue cheese crumbles. Miss Potato Head was so yummy and was topped with smoked bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, sour cream, and scallions. Lastly, fowl play had crispy chicken, mozzarella, and red sauce. I really enjoyed all of these, but I think that Miss Potato Head was my favorite. I really liked the other two though because they had pieces of chicken on them so they were really filling. Some other fries on the menu that I thought was super interesting were Sin-Fully Sweet, which had cinnamon sugar and whipped cream on top and s’moresome which had melted chocolate, mini marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. I would have never thought to put all those ingredients on fries, but it works because they are all so good!
On top of all the different types of fries the restaurant offers, they also have some drinks and shakes, (I loved the coffee shake) and sides like lil bits, party pockets and poppers. I really liked the lil bits, they tasted similar to a mozzarella stick.
One of the employees at the Friskie Fries in Providence, Johnny has been working there for two and a half years now. Johnny said that some of the most popular fries are Miss Potato Head and also Cluckin’ Hot Mess. If you want to switch it up a bit, he said that a lot of people substitute the blue cheese for ranch. Johnny’s favorite fries though are the Lil’ Piggie, which he says isn’t too hot.
The story of how Johnny got his job at Friskie Fries was actually super interesting. Johnny was working at a Drag Club that the owner of Friskie Fries, Randy D’Antuono also owned, and so Randy gave him a job at the Providence location. Now, Johnny loves working there and loves working for Randy, saying that “(Randy) has a lot of heart.” He also said that the menu has a lot of sexual undertones, which I thought was really funny.
Friskie Fries is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for something fun to try. The Providence location is open Tuesday-Saturday, 12-8pm. Make sure to get your napkins ready though, because they can make a bit of a mess!
