Things to Do in Providence, RI: Friend Edition

Gather your friends together, and get ready to spend an amazing day in the beautiful city of Providence. The city may be small, but it definitely doesn’t lack in fun things to do! There is plenty to do around Providence, and there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Let’s Take a Walk: Blackstone Boulevard

I have an amazing spot for you to take a walk in Providence…Blackstone Boulevard. Blackstone Boulevard is located about 2 miles from downtown Providence and the route is a total of 5 miles, but you can walk as much, or as little as you want to. The path is usually pretty busy, but there is plenty of room for runners, walkers, and bikers. Blackstone Boulevard makes for a beautiful walk because it is surrounded by beautiful plants and trees. Not to mention, the houses located on Blackstone Boulevard are absolutely stunning!

Providence has a lot of great spots to see, but here are just a few you could stop by!

Providence Place Mall

Okay, of course this is a popular spot, but I wanted to include it because it really is a fun place to visit. If you love to shop, you have got to check out this mall. The Providence Place Mall is huge and has a ton of stores to shop at from American Eagle to Gamestop to Freepeople. If you like playing games, they also have Dave and Busters which can be a lot of fun.

In the mall, there is also an IMAX movie theater. If you have never seen an IMAX movie, you should definitely check it out. IMAX theater screens are six times larger than a regular movie screen, so they can be a great spot to watch movies, especially a good action movie!

If the stores and the amazing movie theater aren’t enough to get you interested, there are some great restaurants in the Providence Place Mall like Cheesecake Factory, P.F Changs, and Uno Pizzeria.

The Providence Place Mall is a really fun place to go and there is so much to do there.

Thayer Street

Another popular spot in Providence is Thayer Street. It is especially popular amongst college students. Thayer Street is lined with places to shop, as well as places to eat. Whether you just want to grab a quick snack, or get a meal, there is something for you on Thayer Street. Some of the restaurants you can find are Ganko Ittetsu Ramen which has super yummy ramen bowls, Antonio’s Pizza and by CHLOE which is a vegan restaurant. Brown University is also located right near Thayer Street, and there is a beautiful park on the campus where anyone can go. It’s a great spot to have a little picnic and hang out with friends.

PVD Pedestrian Bridge

PVD Pedestrian Bridge is a great place to go to watch the sunset. When standing on the bridge, you get beautiful views of the city. Get your cameras ready, because you are going to want to get a picture of this. Also, the bridge is located directly across the street from Plant City restaurant. Plant City is an all vegan restaurant that has a huge menu selection to choose from.

Comedy Connection

Comedy Connection is technically located in East Providence, but I wanted to include it because it is super close to the city. Comedy Connection is such a fun place to go with your friends and it is always a great time. Basically, they host different comedians for comedy shows. The atmosphere is super casual. Each party sits at a table and can order food and drinks while they watch the show. They host a lot of really great comedians and the tickets are super affordable. Just keep in mind that this place is 18+!

All of these places will make for such a great day in the city of Providence. There is so much to do and to see. These are just a few places! So, next time you want to get together with your friends and you are looking for some things to do in the city, try out some of these amazing spots.
