When Auggie Otter realizes that the other Sea Creatures might see him as a bit different, he worries. The very things he likes to do the best-collect and categorize shells, and spin round and round to feel a sense of calm-these seem to be the reason the other children don’t like him. As Auggie journeys through an undersea world, his mother teaches him that we are all special, we are all unique, and “it’s okay to be you.”

About the Author
Paul DiPietro is a Masters Level Autism Specialist for the Holyoke Public Schools. He is also a CEO/Founder of Growing Up With Courage LLC, a company that provides in home behavioral services, aren’t and parent and educator trainings. Paul has been working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities, Autism, and complex behavioral and emotional disabilities for the past 24 years. Paul DiPietro is a children’s author of three Covid-19 related educational books for children, and a fourth book related to differences and bullying currently available for pre-sale on Amazon with a release date of April 5, 2022. Paul is a recent recipient of the Marquis Who’s Who In America Award for his dedication and work within the field.

Personally, Paul enjoys spending as much time with family and friends as possible, enjoys the ocean, music, cycling, swimming, and traveling. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience working with individuals with Autism to build awareness in the community. He believes that through knowledge and education you can inform change within the world.
Paul feels strongly that learning and education is the most important thing for our youth today. He believes in teaching our children not only to be successful but to improve our world.
