The difference between vacation and family vacation, isn’t the big picture, it’s the small details. The best presents aren’t opened, they are experienced. With the warmth and love of the Omni Mount Washington Resort it’s more of a “coming home” than a tourist resort, the Omni Mount Washington Resort is a childhood memory made into a generational family tradition. It is more than the annual ski trip snuggled in the mountains of New Hampshire. It is a retreat from fast pace to small moments. The big picture is Bretton Wood’s groomed ski and snowboarding trails with everything from the gondola and high speed ski lifts to the magic carpet bunny slope. The big picture is a 25,000 square foot Spa that nourishes and rejuvenates youth and energy. The big picture is an indoor and outdoor heated pool and hot tub. The big picture is the snow tubing, fat tire biking, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and award winning golf. The big picture is the 5 star morning buffets, the dinners in the Main Dining with seared salmon, the Stickney’s steakhouse specials, and The Cave’s live music and sports TV with libations. The big picture is Mom and Dad booking the trip, but the small details are the kids making the itinerary.
Walking into the Omni Mount Washington Resort that was built in 1902 with the help of two hundred Italian craftsman adding touches of masonry and woodworking brings the guests together like family as the resort is loved like a home. The warmth and love is felt through the 360 degrees of Alpine scenery, the welcoming crackling fireplace, the hot chocolate, the black ice espresso martini, and the comfort of adults in ski athleisure sipping on hot toddies with children in bathing suits sneaking to the pool. The grand hallways decorated with roaring fireplaces and lounging sofas are set for the reminiscing of the black diamond runs, the gondola scenery stories, and the snow sledding launches down the slopes. The stories become laughter as parents describe the first run with the toddler on the harness yelling for ski formation; “French fry, Pizza”. The teenagers and siblings compete with their fat tire biking and snowboard runs embellishing the details into legends.
The children beg for quarters to go to the arcade and the parents welcome the freedom as they order one more Trailhead IPA and Red Cabernet Sauvignon. The time becomes irrelevant and the adventures continue as the vacation becomes what will forever be a “family vacation”. The resort infuses nourishing healing; escaping the drain and exhaustion of daily life. The professionals, lovers, children, and friends become invigorated by simplicity and nature’s energy once again feeling joy to last a lifetime.
