The Last Sicilian is an evening of true stories from Actor/Writer Nick Albanese. Stories about his childhood years spent in his family’s bakery, how generations of his relatives met, married and overcame much to come to America. The audience is treated to some winning stories that have been passed down over raucous family dinner tables for year after year. There’s some Sicilian history and the negative perception of Italian immigrants in America when they first came to the States and then switches back to the family stories. You’ll learn a little history, get a bit emotional and definitely have tons of laughs as Nick tells his funny and heartwarming tales of growing up Sicilian in America. You don’t have to be Sicilian to appreciate this story of an amazing journey that spans a century, from the immigrants arrival in the New World, all the way to modern pop culture. Many will be brought back with nostalgia and others will learn how it really was for their ancestors but most of all, after experiencing this Play, you may want to bring back family dinners around the table and start sharing your own stories filled with Comedy, Drama and Family!
