Best Seafood in New London, CT

Whether you’re visiting New London, CT for the first time or you find yourself there frequently, knowing the best spots for seafood is an essential part of the seaport city’s experience. While many of the town’s restaurants feature delicious seafood options, we’ve narrowed it down to our three favorites that focus on preparing and serving ocean fare for diners at a few different price points and in a variety of styles and settings.

Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock, a New London landmark established in 1996, Captain Scott’s is known for its take on the classics – hot lobster rolls, clam fritters, and clam chowder, enjoyed separately or paired all together for a complete fried seafood feast. Family-owned and operated, they are committed to providing high-quality seafood at reasonable, family-friendly prices in a casual, welcoming atmosphere. Fried seafood with a sea breeze – you can’t beat it!

Thames Landing Oyster House is a locally owned oyster house and seafood restaurant that strives to make dining an easy, fun, and comfortable experience. Located in a picturesque corner building, the Oyster House is a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the bar scene downtown. Their oysters are sourced locally and their chef can craft lobster in anything from delicious hot and cold rolls to tacos (if lobster isn’t your thing, go for the seafood taco sampler instead!). Don’t miss their Happy Hours, Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm, featuring $5 sliders and crab cakes and salmon cakes!

On the Waterfront Restaurant features a robust menu and stunning views of the Thames River. Family run, the owners and staff are dedicated to bringing you the best New London has to offer across the board. The restaurant is a combination of casual elegance and features a large dining room with waterfront views, a full bar, and an outdoor patio in warmer months. If you can’t bear to choose from their array of appetizers, go for the Seafood Tower, which consists of clams, oysters, jump shrimp, mussels, and ceviche. For an entree, we recommend the White Seafood Lasagna, which is made with ricotta cheese, lobster, mussels, shrimp, and scallops, topped with mozzarella and finished with a white béchamel sauce.
