Best Restaurants in Waterford, CT

When visiting a new town, it’s always best to eat where the locals eat! We’ve put together a great list of locally-loved places to eat in Waterford, CT.

When Pigs Fly

This quaint eatery with porch seats serves breakfast & lunch comfort foods from omelets to sandwiches. About the only thing that can match the welcoming atmosphere is the food. Nothing is processed or pre-cooked. This is true home cooking, where all dishes are prepared from scratch, yes, even the soups. The owners serve foods they and their friends like to eat, and prepare them similar to what they would do in their own kitchen. Some of these customers even have sandwiches and dishes named after them. Others have brought in pictures, statues, and all sorts of incarnations of pigs. Look around the restaurant – they’re everywhere, adding a whimsical touch to the surroundings. One other element that catches a lot of customers’ eyes is the Christmas tree ornaments hanging from the ceiling.

Filomena’s

This family-friendly outpost offers burgers, pasta, seafood dishes, and a kids’ menu in a relaxed atmosphere. This is the perfect place to go on a first date or for a ladies night – the staff is welcoming and the food is delicious. You’ll feel right at home. We’d recommend the pesto gnocchi, the pan-seared cod, parm crusted chicken, the Italian style nachos, and the prosciutto and goat cheese flatbread.

Caffe NV

This homey eatery with a patio features Mediterranean classics like gyros, pasta, salads & sandwiches. Simple and unpretentious, the original goal was to serve breakfast and lunch. Things didn’t stay that way for long. Eventually, a few dinner items were added to the menu, and people started to notice something special being cooked up in this quaint Waterford restaurant. Local newspapers wrote rave reviews, and Connecticut Magazine named Café NV, Best New Restaurant in New London County. Today, the expansive lunch and dinner menu features Greek dishes, familiar favorites, and healthy-minded selections. Even though the menu has changed over the years, the basic family values on which the restaurant was built have remained unaltered.

Nana’s Byrek & Pizza

Unassuming but Nana’s has some of the best pizza in town! Don’t feel like cooking or just in the mood for pizza? Nana’s is the perfect place to grab some pies, grinders, and big salads…enough for the whole family!

The Shack

Looking for a place to take the family or your friends to breakfast or lunch? The Shack is the place to go. Might we suggest the mess or the kitchen sink if you are feeling extra hungry? It’s delicious! The Shack is the perfect spot to grab all-American favorites and classic comfort foods. Also, their buttermilk pancakes are AMAZING…ok now we’re hungry!
