Best Restaurants in Groton, CT

Eat like a local in Groton, CT! We’ve put together a list of our favorite restaurants…you can be certain that you’ll be enjoying the best of Groton!

Paul’s PastaThis family-run joint doles out huge servings of housemade pasta & other Italian eats on the riverfront. Their pasta is made fresh daily on the premises using only the highest quality ingredients available – it’s truly the best pasta you’ll ever have! Owners Paul and Dorothy Fidrych opened Paul’s Pasta Shop in 1988. Their goal has always been to make the finest pasta products in the region and serve reasonably priced meals in a friendly atmosphere and they’ve accomplished it!

Olio Restaurant & Bar

The menu at Olio is a well-rounded mix of traditional favorites and edgy surprises. The chef prepares many daily specials—constantly challenging the taste buds. There are always specialty drinks and wines to enhance the overall dining experience. Upon entering Olio Restaurant, guests are immediately greeted by sparkling white candles that lead visitors into a dining room, which is streamlined in a sleek black and white décor. The dark-wood bar area is masked behind a wall of glass, and soft jazz-like music continually plays in the background.

Taqueria CincoThis low-key, counter-serve eatery offering standard Mexican fare such as tacos & burritos is the perfect spot to satisfy your taco Tuesday cravings! Also, hot tip: their Arepas are AMAZING!! If you want authentic Mexican fare in Groton, this is the place to go!

The Rolling Tomato

The Rolling Tomato has some of the best pizza in southeastern CT, we’d venture to say. It’s so delicious! Because it Neopolitan style pizza, it’s cooked at a very high temperature (750-950 degrees) in a wood-fired oven. You end up with delicious flavor and beautiful dark char marks on the crust…oooohhhh the crust is so good! Just trust us, it’s SO good! We’d recommend the Noah’s Ark, the Tonka Truck, and Good Luck Charlie…can’t go wrong with any of those delicious pies!

Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough / Costello’s Clam Shack

When these two sister restaurants open each year in May, that’s the sign to most locals that summer is just around the corner! The fried clams, fish tacos, scallops, oysters, shrimp & steamed lobsters are a few highlights that should not be missed at Abbotts! The clams and oysters on the half shell, mussels, shrimp, crab, corn on the cob, and their great New England seafood feast, as well as the various seafood rolls, are all mouth-watering and prepared fresh daily at Costello’s. You can’t go wrong at either restaurant and they are literally right next door to each other! Go to both – we won’t judge!

Sneekers Cafe

We love a good dive bar! And Sneekers is the best of the best when it comes to dive bars! A festive gameday hangout, Sneekers offers a wide menu of American comfort fare in cozy digs with live music. This is a great place to have a guy’s night or to have an evening of fun with your partner and all your couple friends!
